Disappointed Guerrero contemplating retirement

IVAN GUERRERO has revealed his disappointment with the footballing industry following his contract being terminated by Coventry City, as the Honduran contemplates retirement at 23.

There have been many rumours surrounding Guerrero and his contractual situation, with it believed that he owes a substantial fee to the person that initially brought him over to the country.

When he first came to England, Guerrero stated his desire to play at Old Trafford against the likes of David Beckham, but the dream ended as a nightmare.

Reports in Honduras claim that his compatriot Jairo Martinez could well make the same decision as Guerrero and end his contract too.

"It is clear that I have an Honduran passport, perhaps history would be different if I had been Brazilian or Argentinian," claimed Guerrero.

He added: "Football is universal, these countries make great players, who get the money, are richer and score."

Guerrero claimed that his time at Coventry was the worst in his career because as a football player, playing was what he wanted to do and he was not given the chance.

The defender was also unhappy with his pay-off, claiming it was nowhere near the reported $1 million (£660,000) and it was not worth it anyway.

"Sometimes I think to myself.  I want to retire from all this s**t.  It's not worth the trouble continuing.

"People think that being a footballer is the greatest, that it's easy, but they don't know everything that you go through.

"I don't know what I'm paying for I haven't been a man who settles for things."

The former Motagua star is returning to Honduras and taking time out to mull over his opportunities to play before committing to the future.
