Tristan dismisses United move story

DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA forward Diego Tristan has emphatically denied an English tabloid press story that claimed he was on the brink of signing for Manchester United.

The Sunday Express claimed that Tristan was looking to sign for a club he scored against in last season`s Champions League, but he has dismissed the report out of hand.

When asked to comment on the United story, he said: "No, I have not spoken to any English press outlets lately. And I have definitely not talked about Manchester United.

"The only thing I am thinking about is playing for my club. Any other reports do not concern me."

Tristan, who has been struggling with an ankle injury since the World Cup, no longer grants individual interviews.

If he wants to speak to the media, he calls press conferences and has only had two since returning from Japan and Korea.

He continued: "United are a team who I like. I know that their fans like me after our games in the Champions League last year.

"For me they are one of the favourites to be in contention at the end (of the Champions League)."

Tristan`s buy-out clause is reportedly set at £10 million, but it would seem he has no interest in leaving El Riazor at this juncture.
