Farrelly reveals future fears

BOLTON midfielder Gareth Farrelly has revealed he feared for his future at The Reebok Stadium at the start of the season.

The 27-year-old has only recently established himself in the first team figuring in the last five games for The Trotters.

The former Everton star admitted he was concerned over his place in the side by the number of new arrivals in the summer, but he is happy to be getting his chance in the team at present.

"Last year was very disappointing personally and I feared for my place for a number of reasons," Farrelly told the club's official website. "But the disappointment and frustration for me was my number of injuries. Every time I'd come back I got an injury and never got a chance really to get fit.

"New players came in through the summer and then there's speculation that you are the next one out of the door - without really having a chance to do anything.

"I'm happy to be back in the side because every footballer wants to play, but I'm still finding my fitness and finding the game.

"I am enjoying it at the moment and it's going quite well, but I know, as with the team, things can get a lot better and I'll hopefully be a part of that when they do.

"We need to put it right every week and I think there has been a number of games where we have conceded late goals, but sometimes you get a different bounce of the ball and you come away with a good point or a brilliant three points."
