Ricardo denies Barthez comments

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Ricardo has denied making his most recent comments in his verbal war with team-mate Fabien Barthez.

Ricardo reportedly offered his opinion that French shot-stopper Barthez was nothing special and reiterated his determination to become United's number one.

The Spaniard made the claims as a response to Barthez being baffled as to why Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson snapped up Ricardo.

But the former Real Valladolid keeper has slammed the latest stories as make-believe and admits newspaper tittle-tattle is something he is not used to.

"I have not granted an interview to that newspaper (The Sun)," stormed Ricardo.

"Everything that has been published is a lie. They want me to look on Barthez as an enemy but everybody knows the history and my opinion on the subject.

"This never happened to me during my time in Spain but when I was signed by United they warned me of how some parts of the English press act."
