Zico bows to club demands

JAPANESE national coach Zico has bowed to the demands of Feyenoord and Parma and will not call up star midfielders Shinji Ono and Hidetoshi Nakata for the friendly game against Argentina on November 20.

The 49-year-old indicated that he would exempt both from the game in Saitama because of their respective clubs' busy schedules and hinted Fulham's Junichi Inamoto may also be left out too.

"I haven't picked my squad to play Argentina yet, but I'm certain Nakata and Ono will not be there," he said.

"I'm not sure about Inamoto, but I'm confident that Nakamura and Suzuki will available."

The absence of Nakata and Ono, means Reggina playmaker, Shunsuke Nakamura, will be given a chance to shine, although Zico hinted not many other changes will be made to the team that drew 1-1 in their previous game with Jamaica.

"I will not make many changes from the one for the last match but I expect them to put in a better performance against Argentina."
