Figo reveals English ambition
The 30-year-old is currently entrenched at European champions Real Madrid, after he moved to Santiago Bernabeu in the most controversial transfer of all time when he left Barcelona in 2000.
Italian clubs have always been attracted by Figo, and both Juventus and Parma agreed terms with the player in 1995 when he departed Sporting Lisbon - but unfortunately for the Serie A duo he chose to move to Barcelona instead.
The former World and European player of the year has now revealed that his next move could very well be to England - although he gave no indication of when.
"For me, I want to play in the English championship," he said.
"I adore the atmosphere that is breathed in their game."
Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of Figo, as most managers in England would no doubt be, and news of the player's eagerness to play in The Premiership could very well place the Scot on alert - although the Portuguese star is likely to wait at least another three seasons before he considers leaving Madrid.
