Reggina in Nakamura row

JAPANESE midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is in the middle of a club versus country row between his Italian side Reggina and Japan's national team.

The Japanese Football Federation are hoping that Nakamura will be able to figure in their friendly with Argentina on November 20.

Reggina had originally agreed to him playing but have now changed their minds following the appointment of new coach Luigi De Canio.

De Canio is unhappy at Nakamura making such a long flight and returning too tired to have an impact in their important Serie A clash with Atalanta on November 24.

Japan say that Nakamura is one of their top stars and want him to play in the prestige clash with the South American's but De Canio also insists he is key to his plans and want him at his best for the club.

The Japanese Federation have now contacted the club again and are hoping to persuade them to release the player for the game.
