Watford sign Pennant

WATFORD have pulled off a notable transfer coup with the loan capture of Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant.

The youngster spent six weeks at Vicarage Road earlier in the year, and impressed The Hornets` coaching staff.

A host of clubs have been interested in Pennant, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger refused to send him out on loan.

However, with the likes of Robert Pires and Giovanni van Bronckhorst returning from injury, Pennant`s chances of first-team football have been reduced.

This prompted Wenger to consider offers, with Watford persuading the Gunners chief to allow him to move to Vicarage Road for three months.

After sealing the deal, Watford boss Ray Lewington said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have a player of Jermaine's quality with us for three months."
