Pele backs Roberto Carlos for Ballon d'Or
PELE believes that Roberto Carlos is the man most worthy of winning the Ballon d'Or, but that Juventus' Alessandro Del Piero should also be considered.
The Brazilian legend believes compatriot and Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos is the best player in the world and should receive the esteemed golden ball.
Roberto Carlos picked up both the Champions League and the World Cup during the course of last season and the summer, putting him in pole position for the prize.
"Roberto Carlos deserves the Ballon d'Or," insisted Pele.
"Del Piero is a wonderful player, and I would say that Alessandro Nesta and Francesco Totti are the best of the rest in Italy.
"Juventus are currently my favourite side in the Champions League."
