Camoranesi reveals Italian desire

JUVENTUS midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has revealed that he would like to play for the Italian national team, should he receive the call from Giovanni Trapattoni.

Trapattoni has reportedly been close to calling up the Buenos Aires-born star over the past few days, however as yet nothing has been decided.

Camoranesi has revealed he was expecting to hear from Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa regarding a call-up for the Argentine squad, but has not ruled out playing for Italy.

"I didn't believe all these stories that I've heard in the press saying that I was going to be called for the Italian National Team, and to say the truth I was expecting a phone call from Marcelo Bielsa for the Argentinian team," said Camoranesi.

"Besides that, I would be very proud in having the chance to dress such a glorious t-shirt like the Italian way.

"This country made me famous and gave me the chance to be someone in football. I will have only have to resolve some personal details here in Italy and then I would be in condition for playing."
