Boro can appeal Ziege fee
The Reds only forked out £5.5 million to secure the services of the German, back in late August 2000, however Boro feel it is nearer £7 million that they are owed.
The High Court originally dismissed the club's claim to pursue the remaining money, but the Appeal Court has now granted the side the ability to chase the entire fee.
Zeige, now at Tottenham Hotspur, reportedly had a release clause in his contract that allowed him to move from The Riverside for £5.5 million, a release mechanism that the Anfield side used to lure the former Bayern Munich star away from the North East.
"The club must be entitled to advance it," said Lord Justice Simon Brown.
Although Mr Justice Brown also stressed that just because they could continue their case, it would not necessarily guarantee victory for the high-flying Premiership outfit.
