Ashcroft joins Terriers

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have captured Lee Ashcroft on a month's loan from Division Two table-toppers Wigan Athletic.

The experienced striker will boost The Terriers' firepower as they seek to haul themselves out of the relegation zone.

Ashcroft has only made one appearance for The Latics this season and spent a month on loan at Port Vale earlier in the campaign.

The initial deal is for a month but it could be extended if The Terriers can scrape extra cash together, with manager Mick Wadsworth delighted with his acquisition.

"Lee's move here is great news," Wadsworth told the club's official website.

"I've known him since my days in the youth set-up, and he is a very good player. He is an aggressive forward who can both make and score goals, and we know how important that is for us at the moment.

"He will certainly give us an added punch up front."
