Kyle blow for Sunderland

KEVIN KYLE has become the latest Sunderland player to join the ever-growing injury list at the Stadium of Light after being stretchered off in the 2-0 Worthington Cup defeat by Sheffield United on Tuesday night. 

The Scottish international sustained a shin injury in the middle of the second period and now faces a spell on the sidelines.

Kyle joins Claudio Reyna, Thomas Sorensen, Thomas Myhre, Julio Arca, Matt Piper and Jason McAteer on the treatment table.

 "Kevin fell badly and was unable to carry on. There is swelling but we don't think that it's anything long term," said coach Howard Wilkinson.
