Owls confirm arrests

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY have confirmed that Ian Hendon and Philip Scott were the two Owls players arrested following an alleged late night incident in Leeds City Centre.

An incident reportedly took place outside Bondi Beach Bar in the early hours of Tuesday morning, when two individuals were arrested by British Transport Police.

Hendon and Scott were in Leeds at the club`s Christmas party at the Queens Hotel, next door to the bar where the incident is alleged to have taken place.

The police confirmed on Wednesday that two males had been arrested, but refused to divulge any names.

The Owls have, though, released the following statement: "Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that Ian Hendon and Phil Scott have been bailed by British Transport Police after being arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Both players have been suspended by the club, pending the completion of the Police investigation.

"SWFC is co-operating fully with the Police inquiry and, as part of this co-operation, do not plan to make any further statement on the matter until the British Transport Police have completed their investigation."

Owls boss Chris Turner is refusing to let the problems deter him from helping the team climb away from relegation trouble, as he has been scouting two prospective signings.

Turner took in Chelsea`s reserve game with Southampton, where two potential signings were in action.

It is not known if the two are team-mates, but Turner is set to hold talks about bringing two players to Hillsborough.
