Tinnion will call it quits at Robins

BRIAN TINNION will end his playing days at Bristol City, irrespective of whether he earns a new contract.

The veteran midfielder's current deal expires at the climax of this season and he is awaiting an offer from The Robins.

Tinnion has been a virtual ever-present during his ten years at Ashton Gate and has made almost 450 appearances.

The 34-year-old has been an instrumental figure this term in City's rise to second in Division Two and his experience will be crucial to the club's promotion prospects.

But while Tinnion is uncertain whether he will feature for The Robins in the First Division if they clinch promotion, he admits he will not be plying his trade at another club.

"My current contract expires at the end of the season and I am looking no further ahead than that at the moment," he told the club's official website.

"But I have already decided I won't move to another club. If I don't sign a new contract at Ashton Gate that will be the end as far as playing is concerned.

"Of course, I hope the manager and board think I am worth keeping on as a player. I've never felt fitter and I am enjoying my football more than ever.

"My future as a player is not really down to me so I am not looking too far into the future, although I would certainly like to go into coaching and management one day."
