Evra confirms Monaco future

MONACO'S Patrice Evra says he has no intentions of leaving the club in the winter, and is hoping to play in Europe with The Principality side next season.

The Senegal-born star has been linked with a move away from Stade Louis II for some time, with Arsenal being credited with an interest.

The 21-year-old says that he would love to stay with Didier Deschamps's side for as much of his four-year contract as he could, and says he has already rejected an approach.

Evra adds that the club will not need to sell many of its top players should they be in a healthy position in Le Championnat at Christmas.

"Since the season started, everyone speaks to us about this transfer window. We will see what will happen," said Evra.

"In my opinion, the fate of the squad will depend on our position in the league. If we are in the first three then I doubt there will be more than one departure.

"I do not think I will be leaving. I have spoken with my agent. I was contacted but for me it is out of the question that I leave because I have only just signed.

"Moreover, I feel very good in The Principality.

"I have several objectives with the club and with the French team. It is thus necessary that I maintain my stability.

"Next season, I hope to play in a European competition with Monaco and I have four years of my contract remaining which I hope to be able to honour as long as possible.

"If I were to leave, I would rather it be to Spain or England."
