BIRMINGHAM CITY 1 EVERTON 1

BIRMINGHAM CITY came from behind again to claim a 1-1 draw with Everton at St Andrews, but it is the sending off of Wayne Rooney which will be the main story of the game.

The England youth international came on after 66 minutes, but just 20 minutes later he was off after a challenge on Steve Vickers.

Rooney did get the ball but he also caught the man with his two footed challenge and David Elleray dismissed him.

The game itself saw Everton take the lead just a minute before the interval when Tomasz Radzinski was sent clear by Thomas Gravesen and the Canadian took his time before rounding Nico Vaesen and firing home.

The Toffees, though, let their lead slip and Birmingham levelled matters just seconds later.

Substitute Stan Lazaridis created the chance as he crossed deep into the area for Jovan Kirovski to head home past Richard Wright.
