Montella looks to Inter
The Italian international is rumoured to be seeking an exit from Stadio Olimpico - with Inter his club of choice.
The brilliant forward has never quite seen eye-to-eye with coach Fabio Capello - who has often plumped for different options in his starting line-up.
Montella was a crucial part of Roma's Scudetto triumph in 2000-01, hitting prolific form at the end of the season when his side were beginning to look wasteful up front.
An Italian international, Montella's skill and guile have made him a firm favourite with both Roma fans and the national press, but his fiery temperament has often led to speculation of fall-outs and impending transfers.
A move to Inter would by no means guarantee Montella first team football - with players of the calibre of Christian Vieri, Hernan Crespo and Alvaro Recoba competing for places.
Already linked to The Premiership - primarily with Manchester United, Montella is likely to discard the foreign option in favour of staying in his native Italy.
