Rangers reject Amoruso bid
RANGERS have rejected a bid from Brescia for central defender Lorenzo Amoruso, whilst Newcastle United's supposed interest in the player has been played down.
Amoruso's future has been under close scrutiny in recent weeks after he confirmed he would like to finish his career at Ibrox.
Despite this, the 31-year-old is continuing to be looked at by other clubs who would like to add his classy skills to their back-line.
Newcastle had been touted as possible bidders by reports in the North East, with suggestions of a possible exchange for Steve Caldwell.
However, the player's agent Andrea D'Amico has stated that he has not heard from Sir Bobby Robson's outfit.
"We do not know anything about Newcastle, we have received an enquiry from a third party from London about Fulham, but nothing serious," he told planetfootball.com.
D'Amico then confirmed that Brescia had made a bid, saying: "Glasgow Rangers received an offer from Italy but they said no and at the moment there is no news on any other side.
"I think, though, that they would have rejected any bid because of how well they are doing.
"The bid from Brescia came in from a week to ten days ago - but as I said it was rejected by Rangers.
"He is feeling very good at the moment and he looks set to end his career there at Rangers.
"We would consider all offers, but it is all only theory - he likes it at Rangers."
Amoruso has 18 months left on his current deal and appears eager to sort his future out, one way or another - although it remains to be seen whether Rangers will hand him a deal to take him past 33.
Rangers boss Alex McLeish has already indicated that he is looking for a new defender, which may signal Amoruso's departure in the near future.
