Curtis joins Mansfield

MANSFIELD TOWN have signed midfielder Tom Curtis on an 18-month contract following a free transfer move from Division One leaders Portsmouth.

The 29-year-old made the move to Field Mill after mutually agreeing to have his contract terminated with Pompey.

The former Chesterfield player had suffered a broken ankle at Fratton Park and he was unable to get a decent run in the side.

He has already spent time on loan this season with fellow Division Two side Tranmere Rovers and will look to help the struggling Stags climb off the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, defender Mark Lever will not be moving to Division Three side Lincoln City after Red Imps boss Keith Alexander decided against a move following talks with the former Grimsby Town and Bristol City player.

Lever joined the Nottinghamshire club from Ashton Gate earlier in the season but has since fallen out-of-favour with his current side.

In other news, lanky striker Andy White has returned to Mansfield Town from his loan spell at Crewe Alexandra.

Alex boss Dario Gradi had expressed interest in trying to sign the player but new Stags player-manager Keith Curle decided to bring him back so as he can run the rule over him.
