Arsenal consider Peruzzi
The Italian international is transfer listed on his own request, after growing sick of broken promises over unpaid wages.
Although the custodian has insisted he would like to remain at the club until the summer, he is clearly unhappy at the management of the financially-stricken Roman club.
Peruzzi has hinted that unless the club make good on promises about unpaid wages he will seek a new home - and Lazio may well see his exit as one less problem on the roster.
Arsenal are desperate for goalkeeping cover following injuries to Rami Shaaban and Stuart Taylor.
This has left only veteran England man David Seaman, and Arsene Wenger has insisted that he will bring in someone with experience for the second half of the season.
Peruzzi certainly fits the bill, having been a key goalkeeper in Serie A since making his debut in the top-flight for Roma in December of the 1987-88 season.
The 32-year-old has played for many of Italy's top clubs - including Roma, Juventus, Internazionale, Verona and latterly Lazio as well as featuring 26 times for his nation.
Another goalkeeper tentatively linked with Arsenal in the French press is Lionel Letizi.
However Letizi has quickly dispelled the speculation, insisting to his official website that there has been no contact.
"I have heard the rumours of interest from Arsenal," said Letizi.
"But the only thing I can say is that there has been no contact to my club, me or my agent.
"It is true that I am one of the better goalkeepers in France and it is true that Seaman is close to retiring, but there has been no contact."
