McKenzie blow for Posh

PETERBOROUGH UNITED striker Leon McKenzie has been ruled out until February after straining ankle ligaments.

The target-man picked up the injury in the match against Colchester on Boxing Day and faces another spell on the sidelines having spent the first half of the campaign on the treatment table with another ankle problem.

"Leon went to see a specialist on Wednesday and we were hoping he would give him an cortisone injection to speed up his recovery, but unfortunately the specialist has revealed that the injection would do Leon no good," manager Barry Fry told the club website.

"We have to be patient with him and I don't expect him back before February.

"It is a massive blow to Leon and for the club and we have to get on with what we have got."

Posh are in the bottom four of Division Two and the loss of McKenzie is a blow as they look to shoot themselves to safety.
