Chievo coach drops Marazzina

CHIEVO chief Luigi Del Neri has dropped forward Massimo Marazzina from Tuesday night's Coppa Italia, quarter final match against AC Milan.

The pair quarrelled after the 1-0 win against Roma on Sunday, the striker was furious that he was only used as a substitute for the last half-an-hour of the game.

Marazzina has become increasingly frustrated at being left on the Chievo bench in recent weeks and was involved in a heated exchange of words with his coach.

It was alleged that the pair were involved in a brawl after the game in the dressing room, but the club denied these reports.

It is not known when the hot-headed striker will return to the side but it is worth noting that he provided the telling pass for Federico Cossato to score the winner in the game against the team from the capital.

Del Neri is hopeful that the matter is now closed with Marazzina.

"It's a choice made with management. Massimo is nervous. Let's hope the suspension could be useful to close the problem," said Del Neri.

"I'll work because this could happen. He'll stay out for the time necessary to understand and to understand each other.

"He wants to leave ? This is a thing he said. If an important offer arrives under the economic profile, the club will evalue it, if it won't arrive, Marazzina will stay at Chievo".
