Feyenoord eye Cziommer

FEYENOORD are eying FC Twente's young German midfielder Simon Cziommer whose contract expires in the summer.

FC Twente do not want to lose the talented youngster but do not have the funds to re-negotiate the player's contract and could be ready to cash-in, rather than let him leave for nothing.

The Uefa Cup winners will face tough competition from Cziommer's homeland, with Schalke, Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund all very keen to have the 22-year-old in their ranks.

Cziommer can operate as both an attacking and defensive midfielder and has been the shining light for a Twente Enschede side currently in mid-table.

The youngster has spent the last six years in the Dutch league, after believing his own domestic league to be too defensive but could now be ready to return home.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord's inspirational skipper, Paul Bosvelt suffered a shin injury at the club's training camp in Spain, when he received a bad tackle from assistant boss John Metgod.

Tests revealed no break and Feyenoord hope their Dutch international will be fit to return to the side as they aim to close PSV Eindhoven's nine point lead at the top of the table.
