Brann face fight for Nilsen

BRANN could face competition for the signature of trialist Steinar Nilsen.

The Tromso ace has been training with Brann for the past week and the player's agent Einar Baardsen admitted that he has other offers to consider.

"We had a very pleasant meeting and we put forward our thoughts," Baardsen told BT.

"We were also interested to hear what level the club hoped they were heading for.

"Steinar is fascinated by the club and the town. But so far have we not made up our minds, we have offers from two, perhaps three clubs both in Norway and abroad."

Brann's leader of sport Per Ove Ludvigsen wants to bring in a defender and it seems their move for Sunderland's Stanislav Varga seems to have fallen through.

"I feel that lays pretty dead at the moment," said Ludvigsen.

The Norwegian side may now switch their attentions to Nottingham Forest's Jon Olav Hjelde to bolster their defence

Brann boss Mons Ivar Mjelde admitted they have an interest in Hjelde.

"That's quite new, but it is a player we are aware of," said Mjelde.

Brann have managed to add to their squad by signing free agent Kenneth Stovik on a one-year deal.

The former Viking, Helsingborgs and Rosenborg star turned down a move to Djurgardens to sign for Brann.

"I look forward to finally playing for Brann," said Stovik. "It had never been sorted out before, but now everything is set for a move."
