Thomson deal falls through

HULL CITY have announced that the deal to sign striker Andy Thomson from Division Two side Queens Park Rangers has broken down.

The 31-year-old had agreed to a two-and-a-half year deal with The Tigers earlier in the week and was due to arrive at the Kingston Communications Stadium on a free transfer.

However, the Division Three side have decided not to complete the move for Thomson, after the final part of the player's medical was completed on Thursday.

The veteran hit-man will now return to Loftus Road while Hull City boss Peter Taylor will continue his search for a proven goal-scorer.

Tigers chairman Adam Pearson told the club's official website: "We would like to thank Andy for his patience and understanding over the last couple of days and wish him well for his future career.

"Hull City will now explore other potential targets as we look to strengthen the squad with a goal-scorer and also a goalkeeper, following Saul Deeney's return to Notts County."
