Inter strike Batigol deal

INTERNAZIONALE have announced that Gabriel Batistuta will arrive at the Giuseppe Meazza early next week, after agreeing a deal with Roma.

An injury to Batistuta`s Argentine compatriot Hernan Crespo prompted Inter to raid the market, and Roma were happy to remove him from their wage bill.

Inter were looking to have the forward in their squad in time for Sunday`s clash with Perugia, but that will not be possible.

The two clubs have reached an agreement over the transfer, but Batistuta still has to thrash out a settlement with Roma over reported unpaid wages.

Talks are set to continue over the weekend, but the signs are that an accord will be reached in time for Batistuta to join Inter for training early next week.

Inter keeper Francesco Toldo feels the deal will be done, allowing his former Fiorentina team-mate to form an awesome strike-force with Christian Vieri.

Toldo said: "He is a world class player and he will show that.

"Playing with them two up front means we have the certainty of scoring goals."
