Chievo laugh off Roma`s Marazzina offer

CHIEVO VERONA insist Roma will have to improve their offer if they are to capture wantaway striker Massimo Marazzina.

The hit-man is desperate to quit the Bentegodi Stadium after a furious bust-up with coach Luigi Del Neri.

Marazzina has been omitted from the Flying Donkeys' last two squads and is determined to walk out on the club.

But Chievo have not given up hope of smoothing over the differences between the player and manager.

However, they admit if they are unsuccessful, they are prepared to offload Marazzina but Roma will have to drastically enhance their bid.

"Roma haven't shown the will to buy the player," said Chievo sporting director Giovanni Aartori.

"Anyway, we are trying patch up the problem after his quarrel with Del Neri. If this isn't possible, we will certainly open negotiations for his transfer.

"Marazzina only wants to go to Roma but their offer can't be considered interesting because they want to loan the player.

"On this basis, it won't be possible to find an agreement."

The anticipated departure of Gabriel Batistuta to Internazionale will leave Roma short on firepower and they believe Marazzina will be an ideal replacement for the Argentinian but will need to dig deep into their pockets to fund a swoop.
