Wright set for hip surgery

PRESTON striker Mark Wright is set to have surgery in order to cure a hip complaint.

The injury has kept the youngster on the sidelines for much of the season, and the club have decided to send him for surgery after a period of rest failed to have the desired effect.

Commenting on the 21-year-old`s plight, Lilywhites physio Andrew Balderston told the club's official website: "A specialist in Cambridge came to the conclusion that the only way to find out what is causing the discomfort is to go and have a look at the joint through keyhole surgery.

"There are two possibilities for Mark. Firstly, when he has a look at the hip the doctor may find a tear in the hip cartilage which can be helped by surgery.

"The second possibility presents a more gloomy prospect if the hip shows signs of wear and tear.

"As of yet we do not know the date for his surgery and Mark is considering all his options."

In other news, Deepdale boss Craig Brown is being linked with a raid on Manchester City for Matias Vuoso.

The striker has found himself well down the pecking order at Maine Road, but has reportedly caught the eye of Scottish tactician Brown.
