Niels pens new Schalke deal
The 25-year-old former Twente player will now be staying at the Arena AufSchalke until June 2005.
Royal Blues general manager Rudi Assauer expressed his delight at the news, saying: "It was extremely important for us to tie down Niels.
"His class will help us in the next couple of years as we strive to reach our goal - namely to establish ourselves as one of the top three clubs in German football."
Oude Kamphuis, who has made 82 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke, confirmed his decision to the club's official website by saying: "My gut feeling is that I've made the right choice.
"I have already won two German Cup titles with Schalke, but I certainly wouldn't mind adding some more silverware."
