Gresko gives Rovers green light
SLOVAKIAN defender Vratislav Gresko has agreed to join Blackburn Rovers on loan, subject to personal terms being agreed.
The Parma defender has been considering whether to make the make the move to England, but now the left back has decided to try his luck in The Premiership.
The 25-year-old will move to Blackburn on loan until June, after which a permanent deal will be discussed.
Gresko is now due in England over the next few days to take a medical and discuss his personal terms.
"We hope to get the deal finished by the weekend," said Beppe Accardi, the Italian agent brokering the move.
"He is happy to move to England and is looking forward to the challenge."
Blackburn will pay Parma é¼100,000 for the initial loan deal and will then have first option on signing the player.
Rovers manager Graeme Souness is hopeful the transfer will be concluded next week.
"He has had a few things to sort out, but we hope to sort it out next week," said Souness.
"Obviously we need to tie it up quite quickly as the deadline is next week."
Gresko has struggled to settle into life at the Ennio Tardini, following his summer switch from Internazionale. He was a regular for two seasons with Inter before switching to Parma, but he has played just three times this season.
Gresko moved to Italy in 2000, when the Milan club paid Bayer Leverkusen £3.5 million for his services.
