Rui Costa still wants Benfica return

PORTUGUESE superstar Manuel Rui Costa has confirmed that he still wants to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Benfica.

The gifted attacking midfielder started his career at Estadio Da Luz in the early 1990s, before embarking on a successful career in Italy with Fiorentina and more recently Milan.

Rui Costa has stated his intention to win trophies with Milan, but claimed it would be an honour to have a final crack at winning the Portuguese championship with his former club.

Benfica are reportedly targeting a summer swoop for Rui Costa, and the player is flattered by such talk.

"I was filled with surprise," he said. "But I do not have any indication of any possible return at the moment.

"At this moment we are talking about mere possibilities which, I have always said, is something that interests me.

"It could happen in one, two or three years, I don't know, but it will be an honour to fulfil the promise I made to finish my career with Benfica."

Commenting on the rest of this season with Milan, he told Portuguese daily, Record: "We are fighting for the championship and Champions League and this is what I am concentrating on at the moment."
