Sky Blues hand out more trials

COVENTRY CITY trialist Ryan France has earned himself a place in the starting line-up as the Sky Blues do battle with Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in a Reserve team game at the City Ground.

The 19-year-old striker has earned his chance after impressing for Unibond League outfit Alfreton Town in recent matches.

City player/manager Gary McAllister will also give a week's trial to highly-rated goalkeeper Scott Shearer from Sottish third division side Albion Rovers.

Former Leeds and Liverpool star McAllister is checking out several players as his bids to give Coventry the best possible chance to regain their Premiership status.

Goalkeeping coach Alan Hodgkinson will run the roost over Shearer and see whether he lives up to his glowing reputation.

Shearer, 21, has had trials with several Premiership sides including Everton and Sunderland and was expected to have a trial at Manchester United but the club claims interference from the player's agent scuppered the deal.
