Joe-Max hoping to add Moore to Revs

NEW ENGLAND'S returning US international forward Joe-Max Moore stated his intent on trying to help The Revs finally win the MLS championship.

The former Everton striker, who finalised his contract details on Tuesday after agreeing to return to The Revs a week ago, rejoins his former team on a one-year deal.

A fee was not understood to be required in signing Moore, after New England became the only club willing to fit him under their salary cap.

Last season, New England won the Eastern Conference title, but lost 1-0 to Los Angeles in the MLS Cup final.

"I'm thrilled to be back in New England. It's a place that I consider home because of all the great moments that I've had here with the Revs and the National team, thanks to the fantastic fans of the area," Moore said.

"I'm ready to work hard and give my best to the team to try to surpass last year's success and win MLS Cup 2003."

Moore's switch back to the US came after Everton released the American from the final six months of his contract at Goodison Park, allowing him to evaluate options in England, as well as back in his native USA.

The 31-year-old then had to wait until New England had completed several moves to make space in their salary cap to sign the player who is still their all-time leading scorer.

"A lot of things had to be worked out in order to return Joe-Max to New England," said director of soccer Renato Capobianco.

"I'm glad we were able to add a person that will raise both the level of the team and the individual players in his new era with the Revolution."

Moore will line up in the Revs attack with Taylor Twellman, who finished last season in a duel at the top of the MLS scoring charts with Los Angeles hitman Carlos Ruiz.

Added to the option of playing Wolde Harris in the attack, Revs manager Steve Nicol noted the extra dimension the New England attack with have in the upcoming season that kicks off in April.

"We are very excited to have Joe-Max back with the Revs," said Steve Nicol.

"He has proven to be a natural goalscorer with plenty of national and international experience. Pairing him atop with Taylor or Wolde will give us one of the most dangerous front lines in the league."
