Pars grab Ged

DUNFERMLINE have swooped to sign Ged Brannan from Wigan, with the player set to be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday.

The midfielder is returning to Scotland from the North West of England, having earlier played in the SPL with Motherwell.

Brannan has been lured to Scotland by the prospect of first-team football, having been forced well down the pecking order at the JJB Stadium.

The 31-year-old has made seven appearances for The Latics this term, the last being the embarrassing LDV Vans defeat at the hands of Doncaster in December.

The Pars are battling to secure third place in the SPL which would provide the opportunity of European football next term.

Brannan becomes manager Jimmy Calderwood`s second capture of the January transfer window, following Noel Hunt`s recent arrival from Shamrock Rovers.
