Sorin soars in to aid Barca

BARCELONA have officially unveiled new signing Juan Pablo Sorin and the Argentine has declared he has arrived at Camp Nou to 'lend a hand' as the Catalan outfit looks to battle its way out of crisis.

The former Lazio defender has arrived at Barca on a six-month contract, but has admitted he is hoping to earn a permanent deal at the club.

"I will be trying to lend a hand to all my team-mates, humbly, to try and get out of this problem," declared Sorin.

"The team has lost some games, can't find their form, or the results which are very necessary.

"It's best to take things little by little, and not to look too far into the future.

"My desire is to demonstrate everything I can give in these (six) months and that Barca then make use of the option and buy me (from Cruzeiro) to make me a definitive Barcelona player."

The 26-year-old was confident he would quickly adapt to life in La Liga after his spell in Serie A with Lazio.

"For me it's easy to adapt to teams and systems.

"My characteristics are to adapt to whatever system and to be able to play my natural game as a left-sided defender, or more advanced in midfield."

Sorin also revealed he was glad to be joining at the same time as new coach Radomir Antic, insisting it would provide the club with the impetus to turn around their struggling fortunes.

"I think the arrival of a new coach is always positive for a team.

"Everybody wants to show what they can do, everybody starts from zero.

"If after the game against Atletico (which Barca lost 3-0) spirits were low, the arrival of the new coach means that there is an obligation to react well."

Sorin concluded by adding that he was looking forward to locking horns with fellow South American Roberto Carlos, but conceded he had to follow the example of the Real Madrid superstar.

"I think I have to demonstrate a lot because Roberto Carlos has been the best without doubt in this position for many years.

"I am Sorin and I hope people will know me as such.

"There is only one Roberto Carlos, but there is also only one Sorin."
