Madsen hoping for speedy return

WOLFSBURG defender Kim Madsen is hopeful that he will be back in action as soon as possible after picking up a knee injury.

The Danish ace suffered a knee ligament injury in a training ground accident and faces six weeks on the sidelines.

"I went into a tackle and twisted my right knee," Madsen told BT. "It has been X-rayed and the doctor has just told me that some ligaments have been strained."

It is not the first time that Madsen has been hampered by knee problems, but he is not worried about this latest setback.

"It is what can happen. I have strong knees and I have never ripped off a ligament," said Madsen.

"It is just the kind of injury which happens. I have also experienced it in my left knee."

The former FC Copenhagen stopper is also confident that he will able to regain his place in the side once he returns to full fitness.

"We have had four players fighting for the place and now we are five, so the difference is actually not that big, but of course it will get tougher to regain the place when I am back," added Madsen. "Fortunately, I won't be out that long."
