SUNDERLAND are hoping to reach an agreement with experienced Swedish midfielder Stefan Schwarz and release him from his contract.
The 33-year-old has just two months remaining on his Stadium of Light deal, however manager Howard Wilkinson is looking to settle up.
Sunderland released defender Stanislav Varga from his deal last week, and the player's agent Vincenzo Morabito confirmed talks are underway.
"I know that there are talks with Stefan and Sunderland to get arranged a deal that will end his contract," said Morabito to Expressen.
Morabito added that the player would like to remain abroad, before returning to Sweden, with First Division Grimsby reportedly eyeing an ambitious move for the ace.
"Playing in Sweden would be interesting, but I understand that Stefan is tempted by a few more years abroad," concluded his agent.
