Camoranesi named in Italy squad
Camoranesi holds dual nationality - and both Argentina and Italy hoped to snap up the impressive wide man.
However, it appears that Trapattoni's open regard for him has convinced Camoranesi to plump for Italy.
The winger will be joined by another new face in Fabrizio Miccoli.
The Perugia star has been rewarded for his fine club form with a place in the squad - helped by the withdrawal of both Francesco Totti and Alessandro Del Piero.
Miccoli was overjoyed by the news, admitting he feared the worse.
"I've been scared that it was only a dream," admitted the young marksman. "I'm over the moon to be selected.
"If Trapattoni gives me the chance to get on the pitch, I will do everything to prove that he was right to call me up.
"I want to dedicate this joyous moment to the people that are close to me - especially my family and my wife- who will have my child in a few days.
"A special thank you to Perugia and [president] Luciano Gaucci and to the coach Serse Cosmi - as well as my team-mates."
