Sammer reassures Kehl

BORUSSIA DORTMUND coach Matthias Sammer has assured German international Sebastian Kehl that he is a key figure at the Westfalen Stadion.

The talented defender has been left kicking his heels on the Dortmund bench of late, something that has left the player feeling frustrated.

After starting the first nine games of Die Bundesliga, Kehl has made just three more starts and has often been restricted to coming on for the last half hour of matches.

"He (Kehl) is a starter but I have more than 11 starters," explained Sammer.

"He knows that and he does not have to get anxious."

Kehl joined Dortmund from Freiburg mid-way through last season and was a pivotal player as The Schwarz-Gelben lifted the German title.
