Santini blasts French flops
Czech defender Zdenek Grygera grabbed his first international goal when Ulrich Rame made a real hash of his shot and Liverpool striker Milan Baros fired in a second to stun the Stade de France crowd.
Santini could not have had a worse start to 2003 and was appalled by the displays from his stars who failed to perform collectively or individually.
"I think we put ourselves in danger at the start of the match," said Santini.
"Beyond disappointment, there is nothing to say about the Czech Republic victory.
"Unlike us, they played it like a competitive match. Perhaps it was due to the preparation we had, considering the needs of the big clubs our players play for, or to our lack of aggressiveness.
"I am not discontented, I am disappointed. We didn't put in a good performance in the game and with the result.
"The main performances of the players were not equal to what I expected."
Santini was bitterly disappointed with the performance of their biggest star Zinedine Zidane, who failed to have any impact on the game.
"Zizou had a lot of waste in his attacking activity. Was it due to the team, or the individual?
"Anyway it is a collective disappointment."
