Ronaldinho makes telling return

RONALDINHO played his first game of the new year for Paris Saint Germain against Laval in the Coupe de France and supplied the killer pass for Fabrice Fiorese to score the only goal of the game.

The Brazilian superstar was rumoured to be down-hearted in recent weeks after failing to reclaim his place in the first team but will no doubt be pleased with his contribution on his return to the starting XI.

PSG boss Luis Fernandez was impressed with his South American forward saying: "He is improving. He made a very good pass to Fiorese.

"We never considered starting with him on the substitutes' bench.

"If we have to win each match 1-0 with a pass from him, I will sign a contract agreeing to that right now."

Fernandez was also pleased to return to winning ways after two successive defeats for his Parc des Princes side: "It is nice to win after two defeats.

"After the defeat against Montpellier, we were a little anxious about this encounter.

"Were we lucky? To win the cup, sometimes you need to be a little lucky."
