Maldini ready to sign
The veteran Italian, who retired from international duty after the World Cup finals, has yet to talk about personal terms but is ready to extend his stay at Giuseppe Meazza by a further season.
The defender knows he will have to take a pay cut, as the financial crisis tightens its grip on Italian football, and he seems happy to comply.
The 34-year-old, who has been at Milan for nearly 20 years, told the Milan Channel: "We spoke about the contract but not about money.
"Anyway I gave my assent for another year`s deal.
"With these things it's important to start talking personally with each player, because we are aware that this is the right way to treat football in its economic crisis."
