Gould keen on Kearney

CHELTENHAM TOWN boss Bobby Gould is looking to bring in Nottingham Forest youngster Liam Kearney in a bid to boost competition for places.

Kearney is predominantly a left back but has been used in a variety of roles across the midfield and attack in the past.

Gould is looking to bring a better balance to his squad and someone to challenge Jamie Victory at left back.

The Whaddon Road outfit have managed a mini-revival under Gould's tutelage and have dragged themselves back in contention to survive the drop.

The Republic of Ireland youngster has been recommended to Gould by his Forest counterpart Paul Hart, who wants Kearney to gain more first team experience.

Gould said: "He'll come down on Monday with a view to taking him on loan and we'll see how he does."
