Palmer eyes Bennett reunion
Palmer has registered his interest in the midfielder, who was at Edgeley Park for five seasons, but faces a fight to persuade Boston to part with the 33-year-old.
"I have been in touch with Tom over the last couple of weeks and he is very keen to come back," Palmer told the club website.
"But his club have won three games on the trot and their manager won't let him go. It is very frustrating for him.
"He is a very experienced player who would sit perfectly in front of our back four.
"I will leave it until after the weekend and then contact Boston again next week."
The move for Bennett comes after County's failure to capture Hampton and Richmond forward Ashley Sestanovich.
"We are waiting for one or two test results but, even though we are interested, it is unlikely we will be signing him."
Meanwhile, Boston's Ben Chapman has signed a deal that will see him finish the season with The Pilgrims.
