Acimovic reveals heartache
The Slovenian international replaced Spurs hero Gustavo Poyet 10 minutes before half-time and was having one of his better games in the famous white shirt.
However, the midfielder came up with a contender for miss of the season on 63 minutes when he somehow managed to put his shot over the bar from six yards out.
"I am disappointed because I didn't score," an inconsolable Acimovic told the club's official website.
"With my chance we could have won the game."
It was arguably the North London side's best move of the night when Stephen Carr found himself with space in the Fulham penalty area to place a low cross across the face of the goal.
Acimovic found himself with the goal at his mercy to give Spurs a 2-1 lead on the night but somehow mis-kicked and the ball looped onto the bar before going out for a goal kick.
"I was just watching the ball, it was there and then it just went up - I don't know what happened."
A win for the North London side would have moved them just outside the top six and would have left them giving serious thought to challenging for a Champions League place.
