Kearney close to fitness

TOM KEARNEY has returned to training and Bradford boss Nicky Law feels he could be ready to make an appearance before the end of the season.

The young midfielder suffered severe damage to his cruciate knee ligament back in August, and the club thought his season was over.

However, he has shown great determination to get fit and could well pull on a Bradford shirt before the end of the campaign.

The player`s effort has clearly pleased Law, who said: "Tom's been out so long that it will be just like signing a player.

"It's great to see Tom just starting back on the training ground. He's doing some very light ball work and hopefully he'll be all right to make an appearance before the season is over."

Kearney is itching to play again, but will not risk a setback by returning too quickly.

"I'm not going to rush anything, though," he told the Telegraph & Argus. "I'm looking to get a game in this season but I'll play it by ear.

"I've been lucky that there have been no setbacks and I've just got to make sure I don't push it too far."
