Hearn extends Lions stay

MILLWALL have secured the future of young midfielder Charley Hearn on a new two-year contract.

Hearn, who has broken into the first team this season, has agreed a deal which will keep him at the New Den until the summer of 2005.

The 19-year-old becomes the fourth player following Paul Robinson, Matt Rees and Tony Craig in pledging their future to The Lions.

Hearn admitted he was delighted to extend his stay at the club.

"I really enjoyed making my debut at Southampton, and although I was really nervous before, it gave me confidence to do quite well against them," Hearn told the club's official website.

"'I've got in the side, made a few appearances and have now secured a new deal so it's pretty pleasing for me.

"It is difficult moving from the Under-19s to the reserves, which I did last season, but to then progress to the first team is an even bigger step, and I'm really happy that I have managed to get there, although I obviously still have lots to learn.

"I want to carry on working hard, try to learn and improve - and then get another contract when this one is up!
