Figo ends English speculation

PORTUGUESE superstar Luis Figo has ruled out the possibility of a move to The Premiership, insisting he will either remain with Real Madrid or return to his homeland to end his club career.

There has been speculation this term that Real would be prepared to offload the midfielder for a reduced fee during the summer, with Premiership giants Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as Milan all mooted as possible destinations.

However, the 30-year-old has now moved to quash the speculation, admitting that only a return to the Portuguese league could tempt him away from 'los meringues'.

"I will decide to return to Portugal or stay in Real Madrid," declared the former Barcelona idol.

"I do not think about playing in another European club.

"I know that Real Madrid is a dream for every professional.

"What I have achieved here cannot be matched by any other club in the world. To be with Real Madrid is a privilege and a dream for any professional."
