Spanish official blasts duo
The Director General of Immigration in Madrid, Tomas Vera, expressed his disgust that the duo made there way back onto the pitch after the game to receive a trophy from their nationalist fans in honour of Redondo, who played for Madrid for six years before leaving for Milan.
"I think they were stupid to do this because they legitimised a racist Nazi," fumed Vera, after the players stood with Ultrasur, Jose Luis Ochaita, for photos.
"It was politically incorrect to accept the thing. Redondo is an extraordinary player, but he and Raul were imbeciles for going back out on to the pitch and walking behind the goal to receive the plate off a delinquent, racist, xenophobe.
"They have given media coverage and legitimacy to this group of people and that should be condemned.
"Real Madrid can do nothing to Redondo, but they should penalise Raul for doing this because the club is working very hard to stop all aspects of racism among the fans."
